Winter Weather Returns

National-Weather-Service

Key Message #1:
Overall, there have been NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGES from previous forecasts. While pesky areas of light snow/flurries will occur across various parts of our area through the daylight hours today (perhaps dropping up to around 1" in limited spots?), the "MAIN EVENT" is still on track to occur this evening into Wednesday daytime.

Key Message #2:
Our entire 30-county area is now under either a Winter Storm Warning (south) or Winter Weather Advisory (central/north), with snow amounts in the Advisory mainly 3-6" and amounts in the Warning mainly 6-8".

Key Message #3:
Due to the very cold air in place, snow will by dry/fluffy in character, and although winds will be relatively light compared to many bigger storm systems, northerly gusts as high as 20-25 MPH could still cause some mainly minor drifting snow.

Key Message #4:
While snow is the MAIN story, we are also experiencing our coldest temperatures/wind chills in a while. Overnight and morning wind chills these next few days will be at least -5 to -15 across most of the area, and particularly Wed night-Thurs AM could feature widespread -15 to -20......putting us right at the brink of Cold Weather Advisory criteria.
