Nebraska State Patrol High Speed Pursuit

July 15, 2026 (North Platte, Neb.)  — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested multiple drivers after pursuits in the western part of the state.

Monday, at approximately 4:25 p.m. MT, a trooper saw a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 west of Sidney, at over 90 miles per hour, with its hazard lights activated. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the rider refused to stop and accelerated to over 100 miles per hour, causing a pursuit to ensue.

The trooper saw the motorcycle continue to drive recklessly as the rider continued eastbound on I-80. The motorcycle reached speeds of 118 miles per hour before slowing down and coming to a stop on I-80 near mile marker 53, near Sidney. The rider was then taken into custody without further incident.

The rider, Arlie McCloy III, 42, of West Virginia, was arrested for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, and traffic violations. He was lodged in Cheyenne County Jail.

Tuesday, at approximately 2:35 p.m. MT, a trooper stopped a Honda Civic for speeding on Interstate 80 at mile marker 124, near Ogallala. During the traffic stop, the driver provided a fake name. As the trooper told the driver to exit the vehicle, the driver accelerated and fled at a high rate of speed, causing the trooper to pursue.

The driver continued through the eastbound construction zone on I-80, passing several vehicles on the shoulder. Another trooper picked up the pursuit after the suspect vehicle exited the construction zone. Near mile marker 160, the driver slowed down significantly, but the driver still refused to stop. The trooper performed a tactical vehicle intervention to bring the pursuit to an end. The driver was then taken into custody without further incident.

The driver, Luisebastian Moya Ariza, 26, of Colorado, was arrested for willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest, obstruction of a peace officer, possession of an open alcohol container, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in Lincoln County Jail.
