Two MCC Volleyball Players Moving on to D-2 Programs

Two McCook Community College sophomore players signed their letters of intent Thursday to continue their careers at NCAA Division 2 schools.
Romina Martinez Castro signed to play at East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania while Kayten Hagan is moving on to Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas.
"This is what they sign up for when they come to McCook – so they can go on to a four-year school," said MCC Coach Hayley Kobza.
Martinez (Cochabamba, Bolivia) will be a six-rotation outside hitter for the Warriors.
She led MCC last season with 302 kills, 319 digs, 68 blocks and 31 service aces. For her career she played in 69 matches and had 607 kills, 657 digs, 122 blocks and 54 service aces.
"She has been super fun to be around – my Bolivian connection who helps me with my Spanish – and the Bolivian players will always have a special place in my heart."
Hagan, a setter (Kearney/Amherst High School), will have three years of eligibility left because she sustained a knee injury early in training camp and didn't play in the fall of 2024.
"Kayten is one of those players that I really connected to since she got on campus," said Kobza. "We're kind of like the same person – I can look at Kayten and she knows exactly what I'm thinking and vice versa," said Kobza.
During the 2023 season, Hagan played in 30 matches with 545 assists, 173 digs and 21 service aces.
"I love them both and wish them nothing but the best," said Kobza.
