Tree and brush removal at Sutherland SRA
Beginning Wednesday, July 15, Nebraska Game and Parks Commission staff will begin removing invasive eastern red cedar and Russian olive trees, along with overgrown brush at the Westshore area of Sutherland Reservoir State Recreation Area in southwest Nebraska.
This vegetation management project is intended to improve the recreational experience for campers and other park visitors while enhancing the area's native habitats. Removing invasive woody vegetation will create clearly designated shoreline campsites and recreation areas, provide visitors with improved access and a more enjoyable outdoor experience.
Visitors may encounter equipment and work crews in the Westshore area and should use caution around active work zones. The project will continue throughout the summer.
