State Fair Veterans Salute Set for Monday

Nebraska State Fair

The United States Army Band ensemble, the Six-String Soldiers, performs twice on September 1st at the Nebraska State Fair. The band is supporting the State Fair’s annual Veterans Appreciation event and will perform the National Anthem, the service branch songs and a musical set. The Appreciation event is in the Heartland Events Center from 1030-1230, doors open at 0930.

The daily parade will start at 1300 and is Veteran and service focused. A second, outside, performance at the Pump & Pantry Party Pit is at 1700. BOTH events are free! Veterans and current service members receive free entrance to the State Fair with proper identification [driver’s license, VA ID, CAC]. Family members will not have the fee waived, but tickets can be purchased at a discount in advance at the State Fair’s web site.

This day is the culmination of a 2 year effort to host the Six-String Soldiers in Nebraska. Both Central Community College and the Nebraska State Fair are proud to present this talented group of Soldiers and honored to introduce them to our state. The State Fair is kicking off their “America 250” celebration with this event.

Veteran service organizations will also be in the Heartland Events Center and the VA mobile center will be on site from 0930-1300. Major General Strong, the Nebraska Adjutant General, and Chaplain [Colonel] Kane are the keynote speaker/Grand Marshall and Chaplain, respectively.
