Rain postpones Tuesday softball for MCC, N.P.
Overnight rainfall and wet fields at the Jaycees Sports Complex have forced the postponement of MCC's home softball games Tuesday against North Platte. The games have been postponed definitely. Officials are exploring a possible makeup date and will release updates when a decision is made.
Tuesday's games would have completed the four-game series which began Thursday in North Platte with MCC winning 16-5 and 12-0.
This is the final week of regular-season play and MCC is one game away from clinching the Region IX regular season championship. That would mean MCC would host the Region IX tournament starting May 6 at the Jaycees Sports Complex.
MCC is in first place in the Region IX standings, 24-2 and 43-7 overall. North Platte is 1-25 and 3-33.
The Lady Indians will finish the schedule Saturday and Sunday at home against eighth-place Otero (5-21, 6-38). Sophomore day will be Saturday prior to the 1 p.m. start. Sunday's games start at 11 a.m.
