Patient Assistance Fund in Partnership with Community Hospital

McCook, Neb. — An unexpected illness or medical emergency can quickly turn life upside down. Beyond the physical and emotional toll, patients and families often face sudden financial stress related to travel, missed work, household expenses, or other non-medical needs that arise while focusing on treatment and recovery.
Community Hospital announced today that the Patient Assistance Fund is administered and managed by the Southwest Nebraska Family Resource Center, providing a community-based resource for individuals experiencing an acute medical situation.
Community Hospital has made a $10,000 donation to support the Patient Assistance Fund. The fund is
independently managed and distributed by the Southwest Nebraska Family Resource Center, which is
solely responsible for eligibility determinations and the use of funds.
Kaye T. Bieck, Director of the Southwest Nebraska Family Resource Center, will oversee the fund.
Through an individualized assessment process, the Family Resource Center will evaluate a patient’s
broader and more comprehensive needs and, when appropriate, connect individuals and families with
additional community, regional, or statewide assistance programs.
The Community Hospital Health Foundation also provides patient assistance by addressing immediate medical-related needs, helping the healthcare team support patients during critical points in care. The Patient Assistance Fund offers an additional resource for situations where patients may benefit from a more comprehensive assessment and access to community-based support beyond the hospital setting.

assistance and community resources.”
