NSP Raises Awareness for Cancer Fighters with Pink Patch Project

SEPTEMBER 28, 2026 (LINCOLN, NEB.)  —   October is almost here and the Nebraska State Patrol is working alongside many other agencies to honor cancer fighters with the annual Pink Patch Project. This marks the ninth year of NSP’s participation in the Pink Patch Project to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Pink Patch Project is a fundraiser built to support local cancer fighters. NSP’s pink patches are available for purchase for $10 at local NSP Troop Area offices in Omaha, Lincoln, Norfolk, Grand Island, North Platte, and Scottsbluff.

All proceeds from the sale of the pink patches will go directly to Nebraska’s Hereditary Cancer Foundation. Sales of pink patches have raised nearly $18,000 during NSP’s participation with the Pink Patch Project since 2020.

“NSP is proud to participate in the Pink Patch Project. Supporting this cause is a great tradition for police organizations across the nation,” said Colonel Bryan Waugh. “In addition to helping raise awareness, it’s a great way for our agency to honor the cancer fighters in their own lives.”

The Pink Patch Project is a national campaign in which many law enforcement officers wear a pink version of their agency’s shoulder patch. Troopers have the option of replacing their traditional NSP patch with a pink NSP patch for the month of October.
