The Nebraska football team has been selected to play in the 2025 SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl, marking the Huskers’ second consecutive postseason trip. Nebraska will meet Utah in the game, which is set for Wednesday, Dec. 31 at Allegiant Stadium. The game will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT (12:30 p.m. PT) with ESPN providing the television coverage.

This marks Nebraska’s first-ever appearance in the Las Vegas Bowl and the Huskers’ 55th bowl game in school history. Nebraska will enter the contest with a 7-5 record, marking the fourth straight year the Huskers have improved their regular-season win total.

This will be the fifth meeting in school history with Utah, but the first since 1992. Nebraska holds a 4-0 advantage in the series with all four matchups played at Memorial Stadium between 1968 and 1992.

“The Las Vegas Bowl gives our football team the opportunity to visit a great city and compete in one of the nation’s best venues against an elite opponent,” Nebraska Head Coach Matt Rhule said. “The University of Utah has been one of the top programs in the country over the past two decades and have had another outstanding season in 2025. I know our players are eager to play a 13th game and have a memorable bowl experience.”

Nebraska began its 2025 season in an NFL venue against a Big 12 opponent, defeating Cincinnati at Arrowhead Stadium. The Huskers will make their second trip west this season after downing UCLA at the Rose Bowl in November.

“The University of Nebraska is excited to accept a bid to the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl,” Nebraska Director of Athletics Troy Dannen said. “Our football team has played from coast to coast this season, and Husker fans have flocked to each stop along the way and filled the stadium with Red!   I am sure that the bowl game at Allegiant Stadium will be no different.  Our University, our players, coaches, staff and fans are eager to embrace Las Vegas as we close out 2025.”

“It was a thrill to watch the Huskers win the Pinstripe Bowl last year, and I’m excited to cheer on this remarkable group of student athletes in Las Vegas this December,” University of Nebraska President Dr. Jeffrey Gold said.  “The Huskers’ appearance at the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl is more proof of growing strength of this program under Coach Rhule, the culture he is creating, and the momentum we can look forward to in the future.”

Utah comes into the game with a 10-2 record with its only losses this season to Big 12 Championship Game participants Texas Tech and BYU. The Utes closed the season with five straight victories, posting an average victory margin of 23.6 points in the winning streak.

The Utes are one of the nation’s top rushing teams, averaging 269.8 rushing yards per game and 6.1 yards per rush. Overall, Utah ranks sixth nationally in total offense at 478.6 yards per game and second in scoring offense at 41.1 points per game. Defensively, Utah ranks among the national leaders with 14 interceptions.

Head Coach Kyle Whittingham is in his 21st season as Utah’s head coach, making him the second-longest tenured coach in the FBS ranks. Whittingham has guided the Utes to a 177-88 record.
