Nebraska Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony Set for May 8

Grand Island, Neb. — Law enforcement officers, state leaders, family members and community supporters from across Nebraska will gather in Grand Island on Friday, May 8 for the annual Nebraska Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony, a solemn event honoring officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The ceremony will take place at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Memorial, located at 408 State Fair Boulevard in Grand Island. A social hour will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the formal ceremony at 10 a.m.

Governor Jim Pillen and Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers will provide welcoming remarks. Bryan Tuma, Executive Director of the Nebraska Crime Commission and former Colonel of the Nebraska State Patrol, will deliver law enforcement reflections. The keynote address will be presented by Colonel Bryan Waugh of the Nebraska State Patrol.

As part of this year’s ceremony, two names will be added to the Nebraska Law Enforcement Memorial in recognition of their service and sacrifice:

  *   Trooper Kyle McAcy
  *   Corrections Officer Kolby Baber

The Nebraska Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony serves as an opportunity to remember and honor fallen officers while recognizing the continued dedication and service of law enforcement professionals across the state.
