McCook Varsity Bison Lose Despite Out Hitting Cozad

McCook Bison fell 7-3 to Cozad on Tuesday despite out-hitting them 12 to 11. Leighton Anderson led McCook Bison with three hits.
Cozad got on the board in the top of the first inning after Aubrey Hammerlun tripled to center field, and Sara Howell flew out, each scoring one run.
Anderson singled to center field, which helped McCook Bison tie the game at two in the bottom of the first.
In the top of the second, Cozad broke up the tie when Mallory Munster singled, scoring one run. Then a home run to center field by Madilyn McNally followed to extend the lead to 5-2.
Cozad extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Addison Howerter and Henessy Cargill.
Ellie Havlicek pitched five and two-thirds innings in relief for McCook Bison. The pitcher gave up six hits and two runs (zero earned) while, striking out two and walking two. Anderson stepped in the circle first for McCook Bison. The pitcher gave up five hits and five runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking none. Howell opened the game for Cozad. The pitcher gave up 12 hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one.
McCook Bison amassed 12 hits in the game. Anderson drove the middle of the lineup, leading McCook Bison with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. Josilin Miller, Hannah Peterson, and Tenlee Anderson each collected multiple hits for McCook Varsity Bison. McCook Bison turned one double play in the game.
Cozad tallied 11 hits in the game. McNally led Cozad with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. McNally went 1-for-3 on the day. Howerter went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Cozad in hits. Brooklynn Beavers, Cargill, and Hammerlun each collected multiple hits for Cozad. Cozad turned one double play in the game. Cozad didn't commit a single error in the field. Beavers had the most chances in the field with three.
