Comments from Head Coach Matt Wiemers:
A super finish to a busy weekend, sweeping all 5 divisions and claiming the team title. The weather conditions were ideal and the girls really played well.
I was very pleased with their level of play and the mindset they played with all day. We close out our final home matches of the season and have only 6 matches to play. Our singles play really consistent, as the closest match played was 8-5. Abby faced some pretty solid players and she dominated play. Abby has compiled a 25-5 season record.
Abi had a nice avenging win against North Platte. Abi placed her shots well and remained very consistent. Abi runs her season record to 30-4.
Elizabeth and Cassidy also played real consistent tennis. Their ground strokes were as good as they have had and they did a super job of moving to the net. I like the improvement in their game as we wind down the season. They have amassed a 31-6 season record.
Kenadi and Madison got off to a slow start, but really raised their level of play as the meet played out. Missing Madison all week was a blow to the way they started. They faced Ogallala in the final round for the championship and they had a strong finish taking the match 8-5. They had a solid day earning four wins. They improve their season record to 20-7.
Emma and Analia continue to dominate the 3 doubles division, going 4-0 and didn't really have a close match. I have been impressed with their development all season and we are excited to see them improve. They have built a 21-4 season record.
Our Junior Varsity season came to an end Friday. We have seen steady improvment all season from our younger players and we look forward to the future. As long as they continue to put in the time needed to improve the future is bright. We appreciate their hard work and dedication to the goal of getting better than the day before.
The Varsity has one meet this coming week on Thursday, so it will be nice to have some practice time to prepare for the final couple of weeks.
