McCook Public Schools Board of Education Update
The McCook Public Schools Board of Education met today to address leadership transition planning for the district.
During the meeting, the Board formally accepted the resignation of Superintendent Grant Norgaard. Following this action, the Board entered into closed session to discuss and deliberate next steps.
After engaging debate and a thorough discussion where many ideas were shared, the Board adjourned from closed session and reconvened in open session, inviting attendees back into the boardroom.
Upon reconvening, a motion was made to approve a two year Interim Superintendent contract for Mr. Jeff Gross. The motion was seconded, and discussion followed.
A vote was then taken, and the Board unanimously approved the contract, appointing Mr. Gross as Interim Superintendent for a two year term.
The Board appreciates Mr. Gross’s willingness to serve in this role and to provide steady, consistent leadership to the district during this time of leadership change.
Mr. Gross stated that he is committed to ensuring a smooth and stable transition for the district and to the continued success of McCook Public Schools’ students and staff.
--Mr. Gross has served the District for 28 years and counting, including 9 years as an Alternative School Teacher and Administrator, 9 years as McCook High School Assistant Principal, 5 years as McCook High School Principal, and the past 5 years as McCook’s Director of Business and Facilities.
