Press Release

McCook High School is excited to announce Mr. Andrew Mantzaris as the new Head Girls Wrestling coach for the McCook Bison. Andrew brings a wealth of success in multiple sports to McCook.

Most people that keep track of Nebraska High School sports across the state are aware of the success of Westside High School in many sports throughout the years. Andrew has been a part of that success as an assistant coach for both football and girls wrestling, as well as coaching the lacrosse club team. His philosophy revolves around maximizing each individuals potential as a student, as an athlete, and as a well-rounded person.

"We are excited about his passion for developing outstanding young men and women, his vision for what his teams will become, his desire of putting students first in the decisions he makes," Mr. Nichols said. "We are looking forward to having Andrew working with students from all levels in the weight room in order to develop strength and a strong core needed for a healthy future as well as success in athletics. The energy that Andrew will bring to our school will be contagious and will have a positive impact on our students. Andrew will build on our successes and developing a culture of excellence throughout the girls wrestling program and a desire to compete at the highest level."

Andrew received his Bachelors from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and his Masters at the University of Nebraska Kearney. He and his wife Paula Spooner-Mantzaris have one son Lio who is 2.

Andrew is looking forward to working with students, teachers, and coaches to help develop student athletes to reach their full potential.
