McCook Bison Softball Split with Southern Valley/Alma and Chase County

Game one vs Southern Valley/Alma:

Both teams were strong in the circle on Monday, but Southern Valley/Alma Saints were just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 2-1 victory over McCook Bison. Ellie Havlicek started the game for McCook Bison and recorded 18 outs.

 

Southern Valley/Alma Saints opened the scoring in the first after Mikah Schultz singled, scoring one run.

 

Southern Valley/Alma Saints added one run in the third after Macy Johnson flew out.

 

Havlicek began the game for McCook Bison. The starter surrendered six hits and two runs over six innings, striking out five and walking three. Jorja Hammond stepped in the circle first for Southern Valley/Alma Saints. The starter surrendered five hits and one run (zero earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out four and walking two.

 

Hannah Peterson went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Leighton Anderson led McCook Bison with two hits in two at bats. Karagynn Brown stole two bases. McCook Bison were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Carlie Rupp had the most chances in the field with five.

 

Johnson and Schultz were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Southern Valley/Alma Saints. Alexa Miller, Ava Dunse, Amy Luke, Hammond, Hayden Deyle, and Schultz each collected one hit for Southern Valley/Alma Saints.

 

Game two vs Chase County:

Ellie Havlicek drove in six runs on three hits to lead McCook Bison past Chase County 17-0 on Monday. Havlicek hit an inside the park home run in the second scoring three, tripled in the first scoring two, and singled in the first scoring one.

 

McCook Bison scored 12 runs in the first inning on the way to victory. Havlicek singled, scoring one run, Zoe Kinne-Garcia drew a walk, scoring one run, Aiden Renner drew a walk, scoring one run, Cassidy Rogers doubled, scoring three runs, Havlicek tripled, scoring two runs, Leighton Anderson drew a walk, scoring one run, Carlie Rupp drew a walk, scoring one run, Renner drew a walk, scoring one run, and a wild pitch scored one run.

 

McCook Bison scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. Havlicek hit an inside the park home run, scoring three runs, Raegan Boyd singled, scoring one run, and Tenlee Anderson drew a walk, scoring one run.

 

Anderson stepped in the circle first for McCook Bison. The hurler gave up zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out six and walking two. Milinda Barrera opened the game for Chase County. The pitcher allowed seven hits and 17 runs (14 earned) over two innings, striking out none and walking 10. Boyd threw one inning of scoreless ball for McCook Bison in relief. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out two and walking one.

 

Karagynn Brown collected two hits for McCook Bison in two at bats. Renner led McCook Bison with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 10 walks for the game. Scarlet Thayer stole two bases. McCook Bison ran wild on the base paths, piling up four stolen bases for the game.
