MCC Women win 76-63 at Eastern Wyoming CC

TORRINGTON, Wyo. – The McCook Community College women picked up a road win Friday taking down Eastern Wyoming 76-63.

“We played well tonight as a team,” said MCC Coach Brandon Pritchett. “We came out and executed our game plan on both ends of the floor early.”

MCC got into some early foul trouble with their forwards and were already short-handed with an injury to sophomore Ebba Zalamans (Stockhom, Sweden). That opened the door for freshmen Carlota Aliaga Alonso (Valencia, Spain) and Bri Hunter (Roswell, Ga.).

“Bri and Carlota came in and gave us great minutes off the bench,” said Pritchett.

Official statistics were not immediately available. According to the livestream broadcast by Eastern Wyoming, sophomore Gemma Gruettner Bacoul (Berlin, Germany) led MCC with 24 points. Sophomore transfer Audra Vine (Thornton, Colo.) was credited with 10 points.

“EWC made a couple big runs and we withstood those runs and made plays,” said Pritchett. “Audra had some big rebounds for us in the fourth quarter when we needed stops.”

MCC enjoyed a solid night from the free-throw line, going 20-for-22 at the free-throw line (91 percent), according to livestream statistics.

Eastern Wyoming goes to 3-8 on the season. The Lancers defeated MCC in the season-opener in McCook 75-70, but later MCC was awarded a 2-0 forfeit win because EWCC didn’t submit their official roster to the NJCAA prior to the start of the season.

MCC improves to 6-3 and will travel to Cheyenne Saturday to take on 4-5 Laramie County Community College at 3 p.m. (CT). The Golden Eagles lost 56-55 at home to North Platte Friday.
