MCC Volleyball splits matches at Central Wyoming

RIVERTON, Wyo. – The McCook Community College Volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday in the Central Wyoming Invitational. MCC swept Colorado Northwest Community College then were swept by Central Wyoming.
“We need to work on our consistency and our competitive nature as individuals to better our team,” said MCC Coach Hayley Kobza.
The Lady Indians go to 3-10 on the season.
“We have what it takes, but we just need to start doing our jobs,” said Kobza.
MCC concludes the pre-conference slate Saturday with a final game in the tournament, taking on Gillette College at 9 a.m. The Pronghorns are 14-0 which includes a 3-0 sweep over the Lady Indians on Aug. 23 at the North Platte Tournament.

McCook CC 3, Colorado Northwestern CC 0: The Lady Indians won 25-11, 25-15, 25-14 over the Spartans.
Freshman Anna Richardson (freshman, Worland, Wyo.) led the outside attack with 13 kills and added one block assist and an ace serve. Sophomore transfer Paulina Fister (Tuszyn, Poland) was credited with 10 kills, four digs, two service aces, two block assists and a solo block. Peightan Swanson (freshman, Severance, Colo.) had five kills, six digs and a pair of service aces.
Zoe Mulholland (freshman, Lander, Wyo.) paced the pass game with 17 assists. Chase County freshman Landree McNair pitched in with 16 assists, two block assists and one dig.
Middle Leia Young (freshman Amarillo, Texas) had seven kills, two block assists, one solo block and one service ace. Freshman Bobbi Starkebaum (Haxtun, Colo.) killed the ball five times with two digs, two solo blocks and one block assist.
Freshman libero Brooke Nelson (Berthoud, Colo.) was credited with nine digs.
Colorado Northwestern falls to 3-7 with the loss.
Central Wyoming 3, McCook CC 0: The hosts won 25-23, 28-26 and 25-17.
Paulina Fister led the attack with 13 kills and had four digs. Peightan Swanson had six kills and seven digs. Anna Richardson was credited with six kills, five digs and one service ace.
In the middle, Bobbi Starkebaum had four solo blocks and two kills. Leia Young had two kills.
Landree McNair led MCC with 13 assists and had one kill. Zoe Mulholland had six assists.
Brooke Nelson led the Lady Indians with 13 digs, to go along with two assists and two aces.
The Rustlers go to 4-11 on the season.
