MCC softball to try making up N.P. games Thursday

McCook Community College Softball

Pending additional overnight rainfall, the McCook and North Platte college softball teams will try once again to makeup their postponed doubleheader Thursday in McCook.

Weather permitting, first pitch for the Thursday games will be at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the Jaycees Sports Complex.

This four-game series began Thursday in North Platte with MCC winning the first two games 16-5 and 12-0. Weather postponed the games scheduled for Sunday and also the makeup games Tuesday.

MCC is in first place in the Region IX standings, 24-2 and 43-7 overall. North Platte is 1-25 and 3-33.

The Lady Indians will finish the schedule Saturday and Sunday at home against eighth-place Otero (5-21, 6-38). Sophomore day will be Saturday prior to the 1 p.m. start. Sunday’s games start at 11 a.m.

This is the final week of regular-season play and MCC is one game away from clinching the Region IX regular season championship. That would mean MCC would host the six-team, double-elimination Region IX tournament starting May 7 at the Jaycees Sports Complex.
