MCC Men drop fourth straight; lose 89-69 to EWCC

TORRINGTON, Wyo. – The McCook Community College men lost their fourth straight game with an 89-69 loss Friday on the road to Eastern Wyoming Community College.

“We were not good tonight in any aspect,” said MCC Coach Jacob Brandl. “We couldn’t make a shot from around the rim, from the perimeter and we were not very close on a lot of those shots either.”

Five Lancers scored in double-figures as Eastern Wyoming picked up its first home win of the season and snapped a five-game slide.

Tied 14-14 midway through the first half, the Lancers went on a 22-6 run to close out the first half and MCC never challenged after that.

Official statistics were not available immediately after the game.

“I thought we rebounded okay, but we weren’t good around the rim offensively or defensively,” said Brandl.

The coach said his team is still adjusting to the season-ending losses of sophomore post Noah Boyed (Monchy, St. Lucia) and sophomore guard Trey Summers (Greeley, Colo.).

“We’re still trying to figure out stuff without Noah and Trey,” said Brandl. “We handled that pretty well in our last game against Casper, but I’m pretty disappointed with our approach tonight. I just didn’t think we were ready to play.”

The Lancers pick up their second win of the season and improve to 2-7.

“This game meant more to Eastern Wyoming than it did for us,” said Brandl. “And we have to change that because we have a good Laramie County team up next.”

MCC falls to 2-8. On Saturday MCC travels on to Cheyenne Saturday to take on Laramie County Community College (6-3), a team that beat North Platte Friday 88-65.
