COLBY Kan. – The McCook Community College baseball team went on the road Wednesday and picked up a 14-3 win over Colby Community College.

The Indians got up 10-0 after three innings and never trailed.

"I thought we put a complete game together today, we really pitched it today, throwing seven guys – three that hadn't been out there yet this year," said Olsen.

The seven pitchers each pitched one inning each and only walked one hitter and hit another with seven strikeouts.

"So obviously that was really good, plus we didn't make an error so that puts you in a good position to win," said Olsen.

MCC had 17 hits in the game including four home runs and three hit games from redshirt freshman Josh Jedretich (Melbourne, Australia) and sophomore Michael Quick (Oshawa, Ontario).

"I thought we had some really good swings up and down the lineup," said Olsen. "Josh had a really nice game and we put some really nice swings on it."

The Indians got on the scoreboard in the second with a walk, a single by sophomore Blake Dale (Riverton, Wyo.) and a Colby error, a double by Kyler Cox (freshman, Hayes Center) and an RBI single by sophomore Luke Bies (La Vista) to lead 3-0.

Freshman Brady Augustin (Surrey, British Columbia) pitched one inning and allowed one hit with one strikeout. Jean Duran (freshman, San Carlos, Dominican Republic) pitched a scoreless second on a walk and a strikeout.

Freshman Cory Wouters (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) doubled to lead off the third and scored on a two-run home run by sophomore Will Edwards (Sydney, Australia). With two outs, the Indians added five more runs keyed by a double by Jedretich, a two-run single by Nathan Hutchison (freshman, Riverton, Wyo.) and a three-run home run by sophomore Quick to put MCC in front 10-0.

Colby got to sophomore reliever Dylan Huddle (sophomore, Arvada, Colo.) in the third inning. He gave up three runs on three hits and a strikeout.

Jake Quinlivan (Sydney, Australia) pitched a scoreless fourth, giving up a hit and striking out two. Jackson Finder (redshirt freshman, Lincoln Pius) pitched a scoreless fifth allowing one hit.

Wouters singled to lead off the sixth followed by an Edwards single and a three-run home run by Dale, his team-leading seventh of the year to put MCC up 13-3.

Freshman Caden Karabensh (Johnstown, Colo.) allowed three hits in the Colby sixth but pitched his way out of a bases-loaded one out jam. He struck out one.

Bies hit a solo home run in the seventh for the final run of the game and freshman A.J. Matta (Arvada, Colo.) closed out the seventh allowing one hit and striking out one.

Colby falls to 6-32 on the season.

MCC goes to 16-17 and hit the road this weekend for a four-game Region IX series at Trinidad State. Doubleheaders are set for noon Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

The Indians are third in the Empire League standings at 8-4 while the Trojans are seventh among the eight teams at 4-8 and 11-24 overall. Western Nebraska leads the standings at 11-1 and Southeast Community College is second at 10-2.
