Lady Indians lose season opener to Casper

NORTH PLATTE – After winning their first set of the season Friday the McCook Community College volleyball team dropped a 3-1 match to Casper College.
The Thunderbirds prevailed 22-25, 25-23, 25-23 and 25-23.
“I’m ok with the end result knowing that we have some things to work on and this is just Game 1,” said MCC Coach Hayley Kobza.
Sophomore Charlee Russick (Berthoud, Colo.) led the attack with nine kills, a solo block and one dig. Freshman Stefany Garcia (Cochabamba, Bolivia) was credited with seven kills, six assist blocks and two digs. Anna Richardson (freshman, Worland, Wyo.) had two kills and two digs.
Paulina Fister (sophomore transfer from Tuszyn, Poland) had eight kills, nine digs, three assist blocks and two service aces. Peightan Swanson (freshman, Severance, Colo.) had six digs, one kill and one ace.
“We were competitive and did more good than bad,” said Kobza.
In the middle freshman Bobbi Starkebaum (Haxtun, Colo.) had seven kills and six assist blocks and freshman Leia Young (Amarillo, Texas) contributed five kills, five assist blocks and three digs.
Chase County freshman Landree McNair had 28 assists, 10 digs, two kills and two block assists.
