Lady Indians lose by 17 to Laramie County CC

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – The McCook Community College women were unable to overcome a slow start and injuries Saturday in a 65-48 loss on the road to Laramie County Community College.

“This is one of those games you try to forget quickly,” said MCC Coach Brandon Pritchett. “I'm not sure what team was out there, but it wasn't who we are.”

The Lady Indians scored just six first-quarter points, trailed 14-6 after 10 minutes, cut the halftime score to 28-21 then got outscored 21-11 in the third period. MCC is still without sophomore starters Natalie Harmata (Sydney, Australia) and Ebba Zalamans ((Stockhom, Sweden).

“Credit to Laramie County though, they came off a tough 1-point loss yesterday and were ready to play today,” said Pritchett. “We had a lot of individuals play uncharacteristically.”

MCC shot 34 percent from the field, made seven of 18 3-pointers (38.9 percent) and five of seven free throws (71.4 percent).

Laramie County improves to 5-5 on the year. The Golden Eagles shot 46.3 percent from the field, went seven-for-18 from distance (38.9 percent) and eight of 10 free throws (80 percent. LCCC outrebounded MCC 37-27.

Sophomore Suzan Sisman (Aarhus, Denmark) made three of six 3-pointers and scored 10 points along with Noa Iglesias Chorda (Barcelona, Spain), who led MCC with four rebounds. Gemma Gruettner Bacoul (sophomore Berlin, Germany) scored nine points and sophomore Audra Vine (Thornton, Colo.) chipped in eight.

“We'll regroup this week and prepare for our last home game of the semester Thursday,” said Pritchett.

MCC goes to 6-4. The Lady Indians return home Thursday for a 6 p.m. game against the Hastings College JVs.
