Huskers Extend Win Streak At Omaha

The No. 4 Nebraska softball team scored in five of seven innings and downed the Omaha Mavericks, 11-4, on Tuesday night at Connie Claussen Field in Omaha, Neb.
With the win, the Huskers improved to 37-6 on the season, while the Mavericks fell to 29-9.
Ava Kuszak led the offense with a career-high four hits, which included four RBIs and a homer. Jordy Frahm, Hannah Camenzind, Samantha Bland and Alexis Jensen all contributed two hits, while Jesse Farrell added three RBIs. Kuszak, Farrell, Bland and Jensen all homered in the game.
H. Camenzind (5-0) grabbed the win in the circle after throwing the final four innings of the game and allowing only one hit and no runs. Jensen started the game and threw three innings with three hits and four runs.
Omaha opened the scoring with a solo shot in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead.
Jensen, L. Camenzind and Frahm loaded the bases in the top of the second and Jensen scored on an RBI walk from H. Camenzind. Frahm and Lauren Camenzind crossed the plate on a two-run double from Kuszak to give NU a 3-1 advantage.
Jensen knocked a solo home run in the top of the third to extend the edge to 4-1.
Omaha posted a three-run third inning to tie the score at 4-4, before NU struck back in the top of the fourth. Frahm hit a leadoff double and went to third on a H. Camenzind single. Kuszak and Kacie Hoffmann each reached on a fielder’s choice, one of which scored Frahm, and a Farrell three-run blast gave the Big Red the lead back at 8-4.
Kuszak knocked a two-run home run off the scoreboard in center field to stretch the Husker lead to 10-4 in the top of the fifth.
In the top of the sixth, Bland posted her third home run of the year to add another run and make the score 11-4.
Nebraska will return to Bowlin Stadium this weekend to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes in a three-game conference series. The game on Friday, April 24, is set to start at 5:30 p.m. It will be streamed on B1G+ and can be heard across the Huskers Radio Network or on B107.3 FM.
