The No. 10 Nebraska softball team finished out an undefeated weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with a 6-0 shutout of the California Bears on Sunday afternoon in Cathedral City, Calif.

NU moved to 11-4 on the season with the win today. The Big Red also went 5-0 this weekend, which marked the first time in program history and 11 Mary Nutter appearances that NU finished undefeated at the tournament.

Lauren Camenzind’s grand slam in the sixth inning was a large part of the Husker offense, and Hannah Camenzind, Ava Kuszak and Bella Bacon added two hits apiece. Kuszak and Bacon each added an RBI and Bacon contributed a double.

Alexis Jensen moved to 5-1 after claiming the win in the circle. Jensen threw four innings and allowed only two hits and no runs. She added six strikeouts on the day. Jordy Frahm tossed the final three innings and had five strikeouts while allowing only two hits.

Nebraska grabbed a 1-0 edge in the fourth, as Hoffmann walked and eventually scored on a Bacon double.

The score remained 1-0 for the fourth and fifth innings before NU broke it open in the sixth. Hoffmann walked, Coor singled and Bacon walked to load the bases before L. Camenzind hit a grand slam, the Huskers’ first of the year, to make the advantage 5-0. H. Camenzind singled before Farrell reached on a fielder’s choice and H. Camenzind crossed the plate on a Kuszak single to close out the shutout win.

The Huskers will travel to Stillwater, Okla., to take on No. 24 Oklahoma State on Thursday, Feb. 26. The game will start at 6 p.m. (CT) and can be heard across the Huskers Radio Network.
