Hastings College Theatre to present Sean O'Casey’s classic masterpiece ‘The Plough and the Stars’

(Hastings, Nebraska) – Set in a Dublin tenement during the tumultuous backdrop of the 1916 Easter Rising, the Hastings College Theatre production of Sean O’Casey’s acclaimed historical drama “The Plough and the Stars” explores the compelling human stories caught in the crossfire of political revolution.

The play examines the lives of ordinary residents — their hopes, fears, loyalties and struggles — as national conflicts collide with domestic life. The result is a powerful, heartbreaking, and at times humorous look at the human cost of war and political idealism.

Shows run Thursday, Oct. 8, through Saturday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. in the Scott Studio Theatre (806 N. Turner Ave.).

Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for seniors and non-Hastings College students (cash only). Admission is free for Hastings College students, employees and Bronco Booster Club members. Tickets can be reserved by emailing [email protected].

Attendees are invited to explore historical displays created by first-year Hastings College Presidential Scholars in the theatre’s lobby before every performance.

The cast and crew will also be available to discuss the performance during an opening night reception following the Thursday show. Immediately following Friday’s performance, Hastings College President Dr. Rich Lloyd and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Wayne Riggs will host a conversation.
