Nebraska’s Drew Grego was named a second-team freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Monday afternoon.

Grego becomes the third freshman All-American under head coach Will Bolt, joining Leighton Banjoff (2020) and Max Anderson (2021).

The Papillion, Neb., native put together one of the top freshman seasons at Nebraska in recent history, earning Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors and becoming the sixth player in program history to be named conference freshman of the year.

Grego appeared in 53 games, including 47 starts, and batted .326 with 13 doubles, a triple, seven home runs, 44 RBI and 33 runs scored while posting a .948 OPS. The freshman tied a school record with three doubles in a win at Creighton and recorded 17 multi-hit games and 10 multi-RBI performances in 2026.

Grego’s 44 runs driven in are the third-most by an NU freshman this century, trailing Matt Hopper (2000) and Alex Gordon (2003).
