Gov. Pillen Officially Announces Lt. Gov Kelly As Running Mate
LINCOLN, NE —Governor Pillen officially filed the paperwork and announced the selection of Joe Kelly as his Lt. Governor nominee. Lt. Governor Kelly has served Nebraska the past four years in the role.
“We’re fighting for our state and delivering results: Making life more affordable by cutting taxes, protecting our land and water resources, growing our economy, and improving wages," said Governor Pillen. "I’m the only candidate on the ballot who is 100% pro-life and has taken action to keep biological boys out of girls’ sports. Joe’s a great partner — Nebraska couldn’t have a better Lt. Governor.”
“I’m honored by this opportunity to keep serving the people of this great state,” said Lt. Governor Kelly. “As Governor, Jim is running government like a business, working hard to make life more affordable, and keeping our communities safe. He’s the right leader for our state.”
“This campaign is about strengthening Nebraska for our kids and grandkids,” Governor Pillen continued. “Nebraskans — farmers, ranchers, business leaders, and hardworking families — of every political background — are energized to support our vision for our state.”
“It’s absolutely critical that conservatives and commonsense Nebraska voters turn out to vote this November to stand up to the far-left and protect the progress we’ve made,” Lt. Governor Kelly concluded.
Background:
Born and raised in Lexington, Lt. Governor Kelly holds degrees from the University of Nebraska and University of Nebraska College of Law. He served in the Nebraska National Guard, being honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in 1985.
Lt. Governor Kelly served as a criminal prosecutor and was elected as Lancaster County Attorney in 2010 and again in 2014. In 2018, Kelly was appointed as the United State Attorney for Nebraska. He also served Nebraska as the Criminal Bureau Chief for the Nebraska Attorney General.
Lt. Governor Kelly and his wife Susie have been married 36 years and have two children, Shannon and Tom.
