Four Indians tabbed for post-season hoops honors


Four McCook Community College men’s basketball players have received post-season honors from the Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference and from the Omaha World-Herald.

Sophomore Madison Peaster made both the NCCAC team and the World-Herald Midlands Junior college team. Sophomore Norris Bourne Junior and freshman Nate Coley were both all NCCAC picks and honorable mention for the World-Herald team and redshirt freshman Louie Tucker received honorable mention for the World-Herald team.

Peaster, 6-2 guard from Little Rock, Ark., started 29 games for MCC and led the team in scoring at 15.7 per game along with 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.4 steals. He shot 49.6 percent from the field, 27.3 percent from the 3-point line and 69.0 percent from the free-throw line. In March he was named third-team all-Region IX. Peaster reached double-figure scoring 24 times and topped the 20-point mark 10 times with his high-point game coming Feb. 28 at home against Trinidad State when he scored 28 points. His top rebounding game came at Otero College Jan. 17 when he grabbed 12 and scored 27 points.

Bourne, 6-5 guard/wing from Beaumont, played in 28 games and averaged 13.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. He shot 36.1 percent from the field and 33.2 percent from the 3-point line and 75 percent from the free-throw line. He scored a season-high 33 points at home against Eastern Wyoming and topped the 20-point mark six times during the season.

Coley, 5-10 guard from Little Rock, Ark., was second on the team with 15.4 points per game, shooting 42.3 percent from the field, 28.2 from the 3-point line and 78.8 percent from the line. He had 21 games with double-digit scoring topped by a season-best 36 points in a Jan. 21 win at home over Lamar. In that game he scored 28-first half points and finished shooting 13-for-23 from the field, making seven of 12 3-pointers and going three of five from the line. He also received honorable mention Region IX.

Tucker, 6-5 sophomore guard/forward from Bristol, United Kingdom, played in just three games before his season ended with an injury after the Nov. 5 game.

He averaged 11 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, shooting 32.1 percent from the field and 26.3 percent from the 3-point line.
