Eight Huskers Named to NFCA All-Region Teams

The No. 1 Nebraska softball team landed eight players on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Mountain Region teams, the organization announced on Thursday. 
 
Jesse Farrell (catcher), Ava Kuszak (shortstop), Hannah Camenzind (outfield) and Jordy Frahm (pitcher/utility) earned spots on the first team. Kacie Hoffmann (outfield), Hannah Coor (outfield) and Alexis Jensen (pitcher/utility) were on the second team and Samantha Bland (third base) was named to the third team. 
 
It is the most athletes NU has had on the All-Region teams in program history and the most first-team honorees in school history.
 
Frahm has now been on the All-Region first team four times. This is Kuszak’s third All-Region honor, while Camenzind, Hoffmann, Farrell and Bland were all recognized for the second time. Coor and Jensen earned their first All-Region award.
 
Frahm was the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year this season and is on the USA Softball Top 10 List for the Collegiate Player of the Year. She ranks in the top 10 nationally in ERA (fifth), saves (first), shutouts (sixth), strikeout-to-walk ratio (third) and WHIP (ninth). 
Frahm leads the Huskers with a .426 batting average. She adds 19 home runs, 10 doubles and four triples for a slugging percentage of .870. She has batted in 50 runs and scored 55. In the circle, the Papillion, Neb., native is 18-4 with a 1.24 ERA. She has 10 saves and seven shutouts and has allowed only 31 runs across 152.2 innings pitched.

Farrell is batting .314 this season with 16 home runs and 13 doubles, along with 40 RBI. She has started 46 games behind the plate for the Big Red and has a .993 fielding percentage.

Kuszak was a second-team All-Big Ten honoree and is batting .318 with 14 home runs and 49 RBI this year. She has started every game at shortstop.

Camenzind has the second-highest average on the team at .387 and hit .370 in conference play. She adds 63 hits and 53 RBI and has started every game this season.

Jensen, the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, leads three Huskers on the second team. She is 22-2 in the circle with a 2.58 ERA. Jensen has 197 strikeouts this year, the most of any freshman in the country. She is on the NFCA Top 10 List for Freshman of the Year.

Coor has also started every game, all of them in center field for the Huskers. She has 50 hits and has scored 44 runs and adds a .411 on-base percentage.

Hoffmann is batting .356 this season and has played almost every game in right field. She was a second-team All-Big Ten member and has contributed 30 RBI this year.

Bland was also on the All-Big Ten second team and has started every game but one at third base. She is hitting .298 with six doubles and four homers.
