University of Nebraska Men’s Basketball Coach Fred Hoiberg announced Tuesday that Boston College transfer Boden Kapke (pronounced Cap-key) has signed with the Huskers for the 2026-27 season.

Kapke, a 6-11, 255-pound forward from Victoria, Minn., joins the Huskers after appearing in 31 games, including 17 starts for the Eagles last season. Kapke brings three seasons of power conference experience to the Husker frontcourt, as he spent his first two seasons at Butler.

“Boden gives us a veteran, physical presence for our frontcourt,” Hoiberg said. “He’s played three seasons at the power conference level and that experience will help his transition to the Big Ten. Boden uses his size and physicality around the basket to create space and is comfortable stepping out to 3-point range and knocking down shots. He became more of an offensive focal point at Boston College during the second half of ACC play and played some of his best basketball down the stretch. He has been steady in his development, and we are looking forward to Boden joining our program.”

On the season, Kapke played in 31 games, including 17 starts, averaging 10.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. He ranked second on the team in scoring, third in rebounds and third in blocked shots while shooting 33 percent from 3-point range on nearly three attempts per game. He reached double figures 18 times and totaled three double-doubles, all of which came in ACC action.  He moved into the starting lineup in conference play, averaging 12.1 points on 49 percent shooting and 6.3 rebounds per game. He led the Eagles and was 18th in the conference in rebounding, while finishing second in both scoring and 3-pointers (20). Kapke closed the season playing some of his best basketball, averaging 13.4 points on 48 percent shooting, including 42 percent from 3-point range, over his final nine contests. That stretch included a season-high 25 points and seven rebounds at Virginia Tech and double-doubles against Miami (18 points, 11 rebounds) and Wake Forest (13 points, 10 rebounds).

Kapke began his career at Butler, where he played two seasons with the Bulldogs. As a sophomore, he appeared in 34 games, including 16 starts and averaged 4.1 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. He had a season-high 14 points against Boise State in the College Basketball Crown and had 10 or more caroms two times, including a career-best 13 boards at Xavier. He collected his first career double with 13 points and 11 boards at Seton Hall and tallied 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting (3-6 3FG) against Creighton. He appeared in 22 contests as a freshman, averaging 2.0 points and 1.7 boards per game.

Kapke was a finalist for 2023 Minnesota Mr. Basketball after leading Holy Family Catholic to a 29-3 record and to the Class AA State Tournament semifinals. He averaged 23 points and 13 rebounds per game and was named to the 2022-23 Star Tribune All-State and All-Metro Teams and voted to Minnesota State All-Tournament Team. Kapke finished as Holy Family’s all-time leading scorer with 1,796 career points and tallied 1,062 rebounds during his high school career. As a junior, he averaged 27.2 points and 14.7 rebounds per game. He played for D1 Minnesota on the AAU circuit.
