Nebraska July Traffic Fatality Toll

Aug. 19, 2024 (Lincoln, Neb.) — During the month of July 2024, twenty-five people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

¨      These 25 fatalities occurred in 23 fatal crashes.
¨      Six of the sixteen vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, seven were using a seatbelt, and three had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.
¨      Nineteen of the fatalities were in rural locations*.
¨      There was one fatality on the interstate, nineteen on other highways, and five on local roads.
¨      Two of the fatalities were pedestrians.
¨      Six of the fatalities were motorcyclists.
¨      One fatality was on an electric motor scooter.

There were 23 fatalities in July of 2023. Only 30 of the 109 vehicle occupants killed during 2024 were using seatbelts.
