March NDOT Traffic Fatality Toll

April 16, 2024 (Lincoln, Neb.) — During the month of March 2024, twenty-two people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

¨       These 22 fatalities occurred in 18 fatal crashes.
¨       Nine of the nineteen vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, seven were using a seatbelt, and three had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.
¨       Eighteen of the fatalities were in rural locations.
¨       There were two fatalities on the interstate, fifteen on other highways, and five on local roads.
¨       One of the fatalities was a pedestrian.
¨       Two of the fatalities were motorcyclists.

There were 17 fatalities in March of 2023. Only 10 of the 45 vehicle occupants killed during 2024 were using seat belts.
